Vintage Design
Set of elegant lounge chairs designed by Mogens Koch in 1936. This “model 51” was part of a small series of upholstered furniture that Koch designed in the 1930s that has become iconic pieces from the early Danish Modern movement. This pair is from the early production at cabinetmaker Rud Rasmussen who also made the famous Mogens Koch bookcases. The Danish architect and professor, as well as being a very successful furniture designer, eliminated the problem of the transition between the hidden frame and the visible legs with this innovative yet elegant new formula. The frames are cuban mahogany and in good condition. It has been reupholstered in the finest aniline Vacona leather.
