Vintage Design
Secretaire topped with a red marble from the Pyrenees with a bec-de-corbin molded edge.
It opens with a drawer in the upper part, a flap and three drawers in the lower part. Their facades are curved, inlaid with light wood representing floral motifs, and provided with bronze pull handles as well as original functional locks with adjusted keys and entries.
Halfway up, this piece of furniture is also potbellied, reminiscent of the so-called “tomb” chests of drawers specific to the Louis XIV style.
The interior of this piece of furniture offers a writing space with a perimeter in rosewood veneer, and dark red sheepskin with cold stamped, golden vignettes and a central motif. We find two identical drawers with curved fronts, in rosewood and rosewood marquetry arranged in a checkerboard pattern.
The uprights are ornamented with high and intermediate falls, and end in hooves.
The low crosspiece is slightly turbulent, with a bronze cul-de-lamp.
The sides are veneered in frieze and fully inlaid in the same spirit.
The drawer interiors are in solid oak.
This rare piece of furniture will please with its curved lower part in the shape of a tomb and its dimensions.
