This very large and ornate silver plated serving tray is unsigned, but presumed to have been made in the United States in circa 1900 in the period Aesthetic Movement style. The tray is divided into two mirror image vignettes of presumably some form of Nordic bearded warriors with tridents while riding on top of serpent sea creatures. These scenes are framed within an archway with block posts on either side. The entire surface of the tray is very elaborately engraved with geometric filigree details and stylized flowers and leaves with Gothic crosses throughout. The border of the tray shows cherubs or children in the forest in high relief which accent the bold raised handles on either side.
