An unusual large English Aesthetic Movement silver plate toast or muffin rack by John Round & Son of Sheffield and dated 1887. The rack stands on four square cut corner feet adjoined either side by a fan shaped lower body with joining struts across the body with a further central fan shaped strut. The rack has a series of six free standing struts decorated in low relief with foliage and linear designs with a wider central strut incorporating a blank oval cartouche within the design and supporting an ornate raised loop carrying handle. This exceptional quality piece is made in thick gauge silver plated metal and has makers marks applied to one of the support struts along with a registration number dating the rack to 1887.
