1940s Strafor filing cabinet -made by Forge de Strasbourg. The Forge de Strasbourg was founded in the South East of France in 1919. They were one of the global pioneers of the manufacture of sheet metal furniture principally for industry, and undoubtedly recognisable by the signature rippled steel finish. In 1926 the company launched the brand ‘Strafor’ and moved into atelier furniture with more sophisticated and branded pieces. The early ‘pre Strafor’ pieces are recognisable by their utilitarian design and absence of branding. This filing cabinet is exceptional in that it retains its original paint and pinstriping and also all of the original brassware. The shallow drawers all work well and run smoothly considering the age of the piece. Eight drawers divided in two. Internal drawer dimensions: 59cm long, 9cm wide, 16cm high.
