Vintage Design
Rare and important piece of design from the early beginning of the Danish Modern furniture era. This sewing box was made at Fritz Hansen & Son, Copenhagen in the 1930s. It is made from lacquered beechwood and the lid is fastened with the original leather straps. The box is a wonderful piece of decoration in itself and can be utilized as a small storage unit in any modern interior. This sewing box was originally a present from Søren Hansen to his wife Kirsten. At an exhibition in Fredericia, Denmark, in 1933, it met with a great response thanks to the detailed work. The box went into production and was part of the Fritz Hansen collection for several years. The box is in good original condition with remains of sticker from Fritz Hansen underneath. Provenance: bought from the estate of renown Danish filmmaker Nils Malmros. Wear consistent with age and use.
