This antique silver plated tea set was made by the Meridian Company of the United States in approximately 1890 in the period Aesthetic Movement style. The set is composed of two teapots, a coffee pot, a covered sugar bowl and creamer, and two side or slop pots. Each piece has an egg shaped design with tall squared legs and accenting handles with a stylized pineapple finial for a handles of the various pieces. The sides are ornately engraved with four panels of stylized flowers, possibly irises. Each piece is this set is clearly signed on the bottom with a maker’s mark for the Meridian Co. in a small cartouche.
