James Shoolbred & Co were a firm of high quality furniture designers and manufacturers established in Tottenham Court Road, London. Shoolbred was among the Royal appointees in the 1880’s – in this period they were making fine quality furniture in nearly all the fashionable tastes of the time.
The stand has pierced shaped supports, with a brass balustrade gallery, and turned finials. Standing on brass capped front feet. The drawer has an Aesthetic movement design handle, with the original drip trays present.
The stand is a very good example, in original condition with a good patina and the brass untouched. The walnut has been lightly wax polished. There are some light signs of use as expected for its age.
Sturdy in structure, the hall stand has no loose joints and is free from any woodworm or damage.
