This fine table centre piece or tazza dates to the 1880s and is made from brass or bronze. The dish top is decorated with a very detailed central panel showing a medieval king, other figures and a dog in a dramatic scene within a flared and stepped surround, decorated with cherubs and dragons amongst a foliate deep relief boarder.
The highly decorative upper section is raised onto a plain stem supported by a flared and moulded foot.
This heavy and well made piece is signed by the sculptor at the bottom of the medieval scene and also has a gilt brass label on the underside attributing it as a piece from the Art Union of London.
The tazza is in very good condition with no dents or damage and retains a pleasing original gilt finish showing some age-related wear and patination.
