This large earthenware charger has been hand-painted in polychrome enamel and depicts two young children at play in the nursery. The scene includes multiple colors and textures and features a cherubic toddler seated upon a bed alongside a young girl standing on a blue footstool. The girl is balanced with her hands on the bed while she blows a small white feather toward the toddler who attempts to catch it within his/her hands. The piece is signed by the artist at the lower left of the image near the charger’s rim.
The charger has no chips or cracks and is free of restoration and repair. The back of the piece bears stamped and impressed marks for Mintons, and is also painted with the number 671. The foot rim is studio pierced in four places to facilitate placement on a wall. The charger weighs in at 7 lbs 5 oz.
A charming and distinctive decorative accent.
