A good and finely decorated Aesthetic Movement stoneware jug decorated with fan shape and floral designs by John Pollard Seddon and dating from around 1880. The jug stands on a round foot with a tall bulbous shaped body and narrow funnel shaped neck with a very small pinched pouring spout. A looped handled with incised patterning is applied to the side. The jug is extensively decorated with fan shaped designs set with in beaded borders with stylized flower and leaf motifs. The jug is hand painted in tones of blue, green and white on a natural salt glazed ground and is very reminiscent of pieces produced by Doulton Lambeth and Martin Brothers. The jug has faint incised marks to the base.
