Vintage Design
A pair of charming Elizabethan chairs (1830-1904) made of beech wood.
It is lacquered in black and its decoration is worked by hand. They were decorated in gold and polychrome based on floral decoration and garlands inlaid.
Its backrest, delicately worked by hand, has an assembled structure with “box and tenon” joints. Its seat also lacquered in black and decorated with its golden floral detail, maintains its original grid.
This pair of vintage chairs are both charming and pretty and exceptionally crafted. These chairs have that typical shape of the Elizabethan era and its decorative Chinoiserie style, which is found around the seat, the backrest and also runs through the legs.
The chairs are in good condition and the mesh seats are also in excellent condition. Both are very comfortable to sit on and would look beautiful and very stylish in a bedroom or living room or divided on either side of a feature wall.
Both chairs have years of natural use, age-related ‘beloved character marks’, all of which have given them a beautiful patina, hues and coloration.
