A fine and quality antique French Majolica plate with a pheasant set within a wooded landscape signed Hippolyte Choisy le Roi and dating from circa 1890. The plate is signed within the design A.D. and is decorated in green glaze and is from a series of plates portraying a Rooster, a Duck and a Swan. Choisy-le-Roi were one the most important producers of Majolica in France and were renowned for their high quality ceramics. The plate has an unusual black printed monogram mark to the base along with initials G.A.
Offered in excellent condition with usual light age crazing to the glaze.
