A stunning and large antique bronze figure of a young Sacristan smelling an incense container by acclaimed French Sculptor August Louis Lalouette (1826-1883), believed to date from the second half of the 19th century. The figure stands on a large rounded pedestal integral base and wears hooded robes with a short jacket over longer robes finely decorated with scrolling leaves and stylized crosses. The young boy holds an incense container up to his nose and appears to be smelling it. The sculpture is signed A. LALOUETTE to the base.
