where does “extremorigin” come from?
in 1994, gilles canonge and carine tontini created “extremorigin”.
their first collection of turned wood sculpture-objects composed of vases, bowls, candleholders, boxes is presented at the musée des arts décoratifs, at the galerie joyce.
then in 1995, they participated for the first time in “scènes d’intérieur” at the maison & objet trade show, where they were awarded the “discovery” prize in 1996.
in 1997, they opened their workshop.
the manufacturing process, from the raw material is controlled, each step of the hand turned wood gives each piece a unique character.
in 1998, they received a new award for the “wood and ceramic” collection (hand-turned wood, matt earthenware, glazed interior) and in 2000 for the “les carres” collection (earthenware).
their first exhibitions at the “100% design” show in london took place in 1999.
over the years, the two designers have continued to create different collections according to their inspirations, which are still popular today.
