We are delighted to offer for sale this lovely rare original fully restored Victorian 1890 Cornelius V Smith Stamped aged whiskey brown leather Chesterfield sofa. What can I say, if you’re in the market for the best Victorian Chesterfield sofas in the world there are a few names that are at the top of the list, Howard & Sons, Jas Shoolbred and Cornelius V Smith, here we have a fully stamped C.V.S on the inside of the back left leg for Cornelius V Smith Chesterfield sofa The condition is fabulous for the age, genuinely 10/10, it has the original horsehair filling, the base platform is a coil sprung affair with a central beam found on again only the finest models, the front edge which is sprung has been opened check and then sealed by a Victorian upholstery trained professional, the leather has then been sympathetically recolored to this stunning whisky brown leather color, again the work has been carried out using traditional methods I have included a picture of me pressing down on the front panel with my fist, this is to demonstrate that the front panel is sprung as opposed to having a solid piece of timber, these sprung front edges are simply put only found the most luxury period original Chesterfields, its exceptionally expensive and complicated to construct this kind of platform and is pretty much the only way these sofas are comfortable Dimensions: Height 68 cm Width 186 cm Depth 82 cm
